A Simple Problem?
This project started when I noticed friends juggling multiple apps just to track their favorite media. I assumed the issue was simply the lack of an all-in-one solution.
A Deeper Issue
But research revealed a deeper problem - most users forget to log progress, find manual updates frustrating, and struggle with fragmented tracking across multiple platforms.
How might we simplify tracking movies, anime, TV shows, and games - so users no longer have to rely on memory or juggle multiple apps?
High Level Goals
Simplify the process of adding media to tracking lists.
Track all media in one place.
Reduced Manual Efforts
A streamlined process makes adding media quick and hassle-free.
Unified Tracking
One platform to track progress across all entertainment types
Reminders & Notifications
Helps users log progress consistently.
TrackWise keeps your favorite media organized and easy to track - all in one place.
Research
Understanding the problem
I conducted a survey to understand how users track their media consumption, the challenges they face, and their overall experience with existing tracking methods. The survey gathered insights into users’ tracking habits, pain points, and the features they found most valuable or lacking in their current solutions.
Manual tracking is seen as tedious and time-consuming, often leading to abandonment.
Multiple apps create a fragmented experience.
Users often forget to log media consumption.
Who Are We Designing For?
To understand user needs and behaviors, I created personas from survey responses, highlighting key frustrations, motivations, and goals to inform design decisions.
Getting Inside the User’s Mind
To go deeper than goals and frustrations, I mapped out what users say, think, feel, and do- uncovering emotional gaps that shaped the design direction.
Mapping the User Experience
To better understand user frustrations, we mapped their journey to identify key pain points in tracking media consumption.
Uncovering Market Gaps
To understand how existing solutions address tracking challenges, I analyzed popular apps to find their strengths and gaps

Exploring Solutions
With a clear understanding of user frustrations and competitor limitations, I defined key "How Might We" questions to explore ways to simplify tracking and enhance user engagement.
HMW make progress tracking effortless so users don’t have to manually log every update?
HMW create a unified platform that eliminates the need for multiple tracking apps?
HMW introduce subtle reminders that help users log progress without feeling intrusive?
Translating Ideas into Design
After defining key opportunities, I translated these ideas into initial wireframes, exploring different layouts and interactions to streamline tracking and improve usability.
Home Screen - I explored different home screen layouts to improve navigation and content accessibility.
Content Details – I refined the details page to ensure users can quickly track progress and access key actions without friction.
Final Design
Bringing Everything Together
I refined the visuals and interactions to enhance usability. Based on quick user feedback, I added a quick-add button, allowing users to add media to their list directly without opening the content details page. This small yet impactful change made tracking even more seamless.
Final Mockups
Reflecting on the Process
A quick round of user feedback led to small but impactful refinements, making tracking more seamless and intuitive.
Minor design tweaks can greatly enhance usability.
Quick feedback helped refine navigation and tracking interactions.
Adding automation to reduce manual tracking.
Enhancing personalization with AI-driven recommendations.
